How can my child practice topics they’re finding tricky?
Atom Home has been designed to balance introducing new topics to your child, reinforcing essential skills they need to practice regularly, and giving them another chance to improve in tricky topics.
There are two ways your child can practice topics they’re finding tricky:
- In their weekly learning plan.
- Setting an extra practice for your child.
Your child's weekly learning plan.
Your child’s weekly learning plan includes recap islands, which give your child another chance to practice answering questions and improve in topics that they find tricky.
Our guides contain everything you need to know about recap islands and how your child’s weekly learning plan works.
Setting an extra practice for your child.
-
Login to your account and click the profile symbol in the top right hand corner.
- Select Set a practice, which is the first option from the drop down list.
- On the Set a practice page, you can set a practice for your child in the topics they’re finding challenging.
| Extra practice | A customised set of practice questions. Any extra practices you set will appear on your child’s to-do list. |

When setting extra practices for your child, we recommend:
- Sorting by the performance column to see which topics would benefit most from extra practice.
- Setting one or two extra practices per week.
- Focusing on one topic at a time per practice.
- Setting between 10 and 15 questions per practice.

In the final months before your child’s exams, we recommend:
- Setting three to four extra practices per week.
- Aiming for every topic's performance to be showing green before exam day.
