Learn more about Atom Learning's adaptive technology.
Laying the foundation
When you sign up to Atom Home, we will ask for your child's date of birth. This means that Atom knows which topics your child will need to cover in their year group — both to stay on track with their school’s curriculum and to challenge and extend their learning.
Adapting
Once an account has been activated, and so that the technology can start to work its magic, your child needs to use the platform regularly. Every time your child answers a question, the algorithm uses their answers to measure their progress and display questions at an optimal level of difficulty. This ensures that your child is challenged but never demotivated.
Each question on the platform is designated a certain level of difficulty. If your child answers a question correctly, the platform will then show a more challenging question for that same topic later on. If your child answers a question incorrectly, then they will be shown an easier question (and so on).
Tutor Mode
Atom derives data from each question answered on the platform to produce tailored and challenging content. As such, children must work independently to answer questions.
However, if you wish to support your child while using the platform, you can set a practice with ‘tutor mode’ selected. By switching ‘tutor mode’ on, questions answered will not factor into recommended content on Atom. Therefore, this has no effect on the progress measured for your child. It will not directly increase or decrease their difficulty level.
Viewing & Interpreting Progress
As your child works through each question on the platform, Atom's AI is tracking performance. This performance data is split by topic and you can view a breakdown of each via the Track page.
Using Atom Home, your child can receive detailed data insights, individualised content and engaging learning. If you have questions about Atom’s adaptive technology, please get in touch with our support team at support@atomlearning.co.uk.
