What is the difference between the different CAT4 mock tests on Atom?

How do I choose the right CAT4 mock test for my child?

The CAT4 test is a Cognitive Abilities Test used by schools to test a student's academic ability and future potential. It provides teachers with insights into how a child learns, to personalise their learning experience best.

As well as being used by teachers, some schools use the CAT4 as part of their 11+ exams. It is also quite common at the start of Year 7 once pupils have joined a new school to steam classes by ability.

As part of our Exam Preparation Plus subscription, your child will have access to unlimited CAT4 mock tests. These tests have been designed to mirror the level of the real CAT4 exams reflecting the same question types, format and structure.

Use the table below to determine what level your child should complete based on their year group.

If your child is preparing for an 11+ entrance exam, we recommend using the CAT4 Level C and Level D tests.

Once your child has completed a CAT4 mock test on Atom, you can review the transcript from the score card on your Track page. We recommend watching this short video on How to interpret mock test transcripts to help you do this. Here is a useful mock test transcript guide to help you as well.

Atom's Exam Preparation and Exam Preparation Plus packages include access to mock tests that are appropriate for preparing for adaptive and non-adaptive exams.
